Restricted materials & CITES

Vintage and antique objects sometimes contain materials such as ivory, tortoiseshell, coral, exotic leather, protected woods or other regulated substances. Even for older objects, movement across borders is subject to CITES, EU, Finnish and destination-country rules.

How we handle uncertain materials

Where a material is uncertain, the safe default at Nostvin is:

• International checkout blocked pending manual review;
• No promise of international delivery;
• Object may be restricted to Finland or EU shipping only.

Documented pieces

For objects with documentation — for example a CITES certificate — we list the permit reference on the product record and confirm which destinations are permitted. This takes time and cannot be rushed; we would rather delay a shipment than send an object somewhere it should not go.
